Adding Google Custom Search Engine to a Google Sites website

Google Sites offers its users a very very simple way to create and publish their websites. Even multiple users can build their single website and manage it easily. It has more then thousands of gadgets to provide to their website builders, made by Google and other software developers.
In this article I am going to tell you how to add your Google Custom Search Engine to your Google Site in a detailed step-by-step procedure. Google Sites started allowing adding Google Custom Search Engine to the search of a Google Site in October 2009. Since then, it has been spreading more and more.

Follow the following steps to induce Google Custom Search to your Google Site:
  • Login to Google Sites, open your website, and select the "Manage Site" option in the "More" drop-down option at the top of the page.
  • Select the "Site Layout" option from the navigation menu on the left.
  • Click the "Configure Search" button.
  • Select the "Advanced" tab in the "Configure site search" dialogue box.
  • To add a new search provider, click on the "Add provider" button.
  • Now open up another tab or browser window and login to your Google Custom Search control panel. Find the URL for the search engine you want to use by clicking on it's name in the list called "My search engines," as shown below, and copy this URL.
  • Then go back to the Google Sites search provider dialogue box of your Google Site. Select "Google Custom Search" as the provider type. Type in the name of your search that you want to show to your viewers, e.g., "Bazid Search", and paste the URL of that search engine in the "Google Custom Search Engine URL" text box. Leave the "Show results in site" option checked. Click OK.
  • Now you can select all the search engines you want your viewers to view and use and also select a default search engine for your website. You can also deactivate search, if you want to, by simply unmarking the "Enable Search" check box as shown below.
  • Your viewers will see your Google Custom search as your default search, if you have chosen it as your default search.
I would rather prefer only one search, as this is less confusing and why not use only the Google Custom search engine in your Google Site, although it does show Google Adsense ads with it. Now search from your Google custom search engine induced in your Google Site and you will see Google Adsense ads in-line with the contextual search terms of your website.
